Snuggie FAIL

So, back in December, one of my favorite people in the world got a Snuggie and I talked about it on my blog. A few months later, The Consumerist came out with a report basically suggesting that Snuggie sucks. CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO!!!

So for those of you planning to order one of these creepy, fleecy Revenge of the Sith robes, my advice is…don’t. And for those of you who are unlucky enough to own a Snuggie (specifically a sky blue Snuggie that wraps around one particular boy from Rhode Island) my heart goes out to you. Let’s hope the static electricity created by the Snuggie doesn’t ignite and set you on fire while you’re reading or playing board games with an equally Snuggie-clad date.

Time to Vote

Several days ago, I came across a rather startling Twitter post from Britney Spears. Yes, I follow Brit’s tweets. So sue me. Adam (Britney’s manager) requested that all of her fans vote online to make Britney one of Time Magazine’s Most Influential People of 2009. Britney is joining the list alongside other highly deserving candidates: T-Pain, A-Rod, the Pregnant Man, and Joaquin Pheonix just to name a few. And to be fair, there’s a couple hundred more where that came from. Does Barack Obama ring any bells? According to the current tally, being the President of the United States doesn’t constitute a number one slot. Instead, President Obama is currently ranked number ten, falling in behind a South Korean pop star, the author of a vampire romance novel for teens, and yes, Britney Spears. Just goes to show that a person can spend stints of time in rehab, lose a custody battle, be the newest center of controversial song lyrics on the airwaves, and still earn a (pending) number 6 slot on this prestigious list. I’d say more, but I don’t want to upset this guy.

Snuggie’s Spreading Around the World

Okay, really, just to Rhode Island. One of my best friends in the entire world (who is currently in London right now. I miss him terribly) got a Snuggie from his sister for Christmas. I personally think Snuggies are absolutely ridiculous. It’s a blanket….WITH SLEEVES. Seriously, that’s how they’re advertising it. I think a better slogan would be, “Hey, when you put this on, you’ll bear a striking resemblance to this guy. ” May the fleece be with you.

Anyways, this is Nick in his Snuggie. He’s just too cool.

Katy Perry Is My Hero…

Aside from the fact that Katy Perry came down from the ceiling in an extra large banana during her Grammy performance, she’s just awesome. I like that she doesn’t seem to take herself too seriously. If you want further proof, check out this video.

Don’t get me wrong. I love the Oscars. Where else can you find a bunch of actors dressed in excessively over-priced clothing who have no idea how to read a teleprompter? Despite all of the gloriousness of this year’s Academy Awards show, I thought something was missing. I realized, during my deep contemplation, that the something missing was actually a lot of some things: categories that might spice things up a bit.

Oscar nomination categories that didn’t quite make the cut (but totally should have)

Best Over-Acting in a Vampire Movie: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in Twilight. Need I say more?

Best Accidental Comedy: Mamma Mia. Three dads. A wedding. Lost lovers. Sounds pretty dramatic. At times, it is. And yet, the hilarity that ensues every single time Pierce Brosnan opens his mouth to sing is enough to send me into a fit of hysterics. You’ll laugh so hard, you’ll cry.

Best Portrayal of a B.A.M.F: Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man. I don’t care if he doesn’t have any real superhero powers. It’s way cooler to watch a regular (if not excessively rich, intelligent, and arrogant) person beat the bad guys. I saw it three times in the theaters.

Best Movie to Take Your Mother To If You Want to Listen to Her Whine For Hours After the Movie is Over: Speed Racer Warning! Could experience misgivings about the movie yourself. It looked cool in theory… sort of. And just to be clear, I was laughing at Emile Hirsch behind his back.

Actor That Suddenly Got Skinny and Possibly Coked Out (and that makes him the best): Josh Peck. Before and after It could also have something to do with the fact that I secretly love Drake and Josh. So good! Anyways, you go, Josh Peck!

I could go on, but I don’t think I will.I like ending on a high note. In this case, an emo Josh Peck will have to do.

Spiderman is Coming to Broadway…
